Dressmaking 2

I thought the last dressmaking would be my first and last attempt but I made another one again!
This time there's no button or zipper closure, it's a simple slip-on dress that ties both sides at the waist with a thin black ribbon for a fitting form. I must have bought this cotton batik fabric in Singapore over 10 years ago but it's a perfect piece and I think the fabric pattern all worked well in the dress.
I can feel the summer slowly ending as it's getting cooler in the mornings and evenings, but I suppose I would still be able to wear this dress for a little while.

前回の洋裁が最初で最後かと思ったけれど、もう一枚作っちゃいました！今回はボタンもジッパーもないシンプルなかぶりのワンピース。両脇を黒いリボンで結んでウェストをしぼるのでシルエットがすっきりしてます。たぶんもう１０年以上も前にシンガポールでこの綿のバティック生地を買ったと思うけど、まだ新品同様でしかも生地の模様もうまくワンピースにおさまっています。
このところ朝晩の気温が過ごしやすく涼しくなって夏が終わりそうな予感だけど、このワンピースはもう少しの間だけ着れそうです。

Just recently, I met a talented illustrator Miwa Goto. She's based in Paris and her works can be seen in fashion magazines like Vogue Nippon, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazzar etc... and many more.
I really love her distinct edgy lines, the colors and how her art is full of life and movement with stories. Here are some of her wonderful illustrations!

先日ゴトウミワさんと言うステキなイラストレータを紹介してもらいました。彼女はパリ在住でVogue Nippon, Marie Claire, Harper's Bazzar など、いろんなファッション誌やグッズで作品を掲載して活躍されています。エッジーなラインや色の使い方、ストーリーいっぱいで生き生きと動いているアートがとても楽しくて好きです！

Fruitful Tree

Look what I found on the way back from the beach today. Kiwi fruit growing on tree in someone's yard! I guess the climate in Hayama is warm enough to bear this many fruit!

海の帰りにお庭でキウイが木になってるのをみつけました！葉山の気候がこんなに沢山実らせてるのかしら！

Summer passing by...

I had been so busy working on production for a few projects back to back and hadn't been able to update for a while! I realize that my last post was about my handmade work in progress, but that's been put on hold and they aren't finished just yet. Almost, but not quite. In the mean time though, I am also in the mood to make another summer dress before the summer ends so that should be another post coming up. (... and I thought my last dress making would be the first and last attempt!)

It's already past mid-August. Summer is still here but it seems like it's passing by so fast. Too fast! There are still a few more things I want to do before the end of the season and hope to go to the beach once again... this is a picture I shot with a Holga camera years ago in Izu. I love how the colors are so vivid yet tone is so vague and nostalgic. Some what like a dream...



しばらくプロダクションが続いて忙しかったのでアップデートが保留になってしまいました。最後のポストがハンドメイドの進行中だったのに、まだそれも終わらせていません。後もう少しでできるんですけど。そんな中、また夏が終わる前にワンピースを作りたくなってきてるので、そのうちそれもアップデートします。（前回の洋裁が最初で最後だと思ったのに！）

もう８月も半ば過ぎ。まだ暑い日が続くけれど、あっと言う間に夏が過ぎてしまう感じです。海にももう一度行きたいし、まだこの夏にやりたい事がいくつかあるのに。

この写真は何年も前に伊豆に言った時にHolgaで撮ったものです。ビビッドな色とノスタルジックなトーンがまるで夢で見ている感じなので気に入ってます。
